Seventeen years,
one phone number

Harcon started in 2009 out of Etters with one truck and one rule that stuck. Seventeen years on it is still a family operation working out of York County, still small enough that the man who walks your property is the one swinging a hammer on it three weeks later.

Most outfits our size farm out the parts they would rather not do. We kept them. Excavation, footers, post-frame, structural steel, roofing, concrete, pools, trim, floors. We own all of it, so nobody outside this company sets your schedule. When something needs deciding at 6:40 in the morning, the foreman decides it on site instead of routing it through three companies.

That is also how the dates hold. One crew stays on one job until it is finished, then moves to the next one.

“Any job worth doing is a job worth doing right.”

Eight trades,
one company

Open any line for the spec: what is included and what we need from you before we start.

We build houses the same way we build barns: from the dirt up, with our own crew. Excavation, footers, foundation, framing, roof, exterior, and interior finish all run on one schedule under one company, so your house never stands open to the weather for a month while we wait on the next trade.

Included
Site work, footers and foundation, framing, roof, siding, windows, interior trim and flooring
Style range
Farmhouse, two story, ranch, timber accent porches and post details
You supply
Lot, plans or a sketch we can work from, and finish selections
Permits
We pull township permits and meet the inspector

Open a wall in an older York County house and you find what the last guy covered up. Because we frame, pour, and finish in house, we fix a rotted sill or an undersized header the same afternoon we find it instead of stalling the job while three trades argue about whose problem it is.

Included
Kitchens, bathrooms, additions, hardwood and tile floors, fireplaces and stonework, structural repair
Structural
Wall removal, beams and headers, footers for additions
Occupied homes
Dust walls, daily cleanup, one room opened at a time where possible
Typical scope
Single room through whole floor gut and rebuild
Price a remodel
Interior remodel in progress with new hardwood flooring and a stone fireplace

This is the bulk of what we do. Posts set below frost, trusses on top, ribbed steel over the whole thing, and a slab poured by the same crew that stood the frame. We size it for what is going inside: a tractor, a dump trailer, or a business.

Included
Site prep and stone pad, posts, trusses, steel roof and walls, doors, poured slab
Upgrades
Insulated roof and wall packages, steel liner panels, pine wainscot, LED lighting, lean-tos, overhangs
Doors
Overhead, sliding, custom board and batten built on site
Common sizes
Anything from a single bay garage up to full commercial shops

When the span is wide or the use is commercial, steel makes more sense than wood. We handle the pad, the anchor bolts, the erection, and the trim, and we finish the inside if you want it heated and lined rather than left as a shell.

Included
Pad and footers, steel erection, roof and wall panels, trim, overhead and walk doors
Finishing
Insulation, liner panels, in floor or hanging heat, lighting and electrical rough in
Uses
Equipment storage, contractor shops, warehousing, ag
Colors
Full standard steel color range with matching trim
Spec a metal building
Grey and white metal building erected by Harcon Services on a graded lot

Metal roofs are most of our roof work. The difference between a roof that lasts forty years and one that leaks in five comes down to closures at the ridge, proper laps, screws driven straight and to depth, and flashing we tuck instead of caulk.

Roofing
Ribbed and standing seam metal, architectural shingle, tear offs, metal over existing where the deck allows
Exteriors
Siding, soffit and fascia, gutters, windows and exterior doors
Repairs
Leak tracing, flashing and closure rework, storm damage
Also fits
Barn and shop re-roofs, not just houses

Flat, pitched where it needs to be, and jointed so it cracks where we put the line instead of across the middle of your garage floor. We grade the base, set the forms, pour, and finish. The slab and the building sitting on it come from the same crew.

Included
Barn and garage slabs, driveways, sidewalks and aprons, patios, pool decks, footers and foundation walls
Base work
Excavation, stone base, compaction, vapor barrier and wire or fiber reinforcement
Finishes
Broom, trowel, exposed aggregate, saw cut and tooled joints
Paving
Blacktop drives and aprons tied into new concrete
Price concrete work
Freshly poured and finished concrete slab with clean edge and stone base

A pool is an excavation job and a concrete job stacked on top of each other. We already do both, so we take one on end to end: dig it, set the walls, plumb it, pour the deck, fence it, and build the pavilion you are going to sit under while the kids use it.

Included
Excavation, steel wall or freeform shell, plumbing and equipment pad, concrete deck, fencing
Shapes
Rectangular with diving section, freeform with rock and bubbler features
Outdoor living
Timber pavilions with stone columns, patios, retaining walls, grading and seeding
Site restore
Backfill, final grade and topsoil left ready to seed
Start a pool project

We own our machines. That is why nothing on this list waits on a rental yard or a subcontractor's calendar. Site work also keeps the crew busy through winter, so the people you hired in July are the same ones plowing your lot in January.

Grading
Rough and final grade, topsoil, seeding, retaining walls

Why people keep calling the same number

Scope control

Every trade stays in house

The same crew handles footers, post-frame, steel, roofing, concrete, and interior finish. We hand nothing to a subcontractor whose schedule we cannot control, so your build never sits half framed waiting on someone else's truck.

One company, one invoice, one person to call when you have a question.

Quote accuracy

The man who prices it builds it

The men swinging the hammers write the estimate. They walk your property with a tape and catch the grade problem, the access problem, and the extra footer while you are standing there. The number at the beginning usually holds to the end.

Free on site estimate. Written scope before a shovel moves.

Schedule

One job at a time, start to finish

Your build keeps the crew until it is closed in and finished. That is how a barn goes up in a few weeks instead of dragging into next season while one crew rotates between four open sites.

Ask where the build calendar stands when you call and we will give you the real date.

Year round

We pick up in February too

Snow removal, seasonal grading, and firewood keep our people working through winter. The crew you hired in July has not scattered by January, and a leaking roof or a drifted lane reaches a person on the phone instead of a voicemail box.

Snow and emergency calls taken after hours.

Any job worth doing is a job worth doing right

Seventeen years of barns, houses, slabs, roofs and pools across York County, held to one standard. If we would not accept the work on our own property, you do not get handed it either.

How a Harcon job runs

Five steps, and you deal with the same two or three people at every one of them. No portal login, no project manager between you and the crew.

Questions we get every week

If yours is not here, call and ask. One of us answers the phone.

717-599-8341

We are based in Etters and work across York County and Central Pennsylvania, up into the Harrisburg area. If you are just outside that, call anyway. For a larger build we will usually travel.

Rarely. Our own people handle excavation, concrete, post-frame, steel, roofing and interior finish with our own machines. On a specialty item such as final electrical hookup we bring in a licensed trade, and we tell you up front when that happens.

Either way. Most customers have us do both, because when one company grades the pad and stands the building on it, the base question never turns into an argument. If you already have a pad we will look at it and tell you straight whether it is ready.

It depends on size, how much site work the ground needs, whether you want it insulated and lined, and what doors go in it. Two barns with the same footprint can be thousands apart for those reasons. We give you a real number after we walk the property, and the estimate is free.

Yes. Our Pennsylvania Home Improvement Contractor registration is PA HIC #[ADD NUMBER], and we will send a current certificate of insurance with your estimate any time you ask for one.

We do. A sidewalk, a bathroom, a leaking flashing, a load of firewood. Plenty of the barns we build started years earlier as a small repair for the same family.

It moves with the season and the weather. We run one job at a time, so we can give you a real start window instead of putting you on a list and going quiet. Call and ask where the calendar sits right now.

What neighbors say about us

Most of our work comes from someone driving past a barn we built and asking who put it up. If we built something for you, a few words go a long way.
